A $91 million major upgrade to Barlow Park has been approved to rebuild the West Stand to 3,500 seats and temporarily expand capacity to 20,000 for the 2032 Olympics. The North Queensland Cowboys are advancing plans for a $30 million High-Performance Centre at West Barlow Park, with $15 million secured from the Federal Government for the NRLW team base. These changes provide dedicated spaces that local teams can use for training and matches throughout the year.

Cazalys Stadium Plans

AFL Cairns announced a $25 million upgrade plan for Cazalys Stadium, including a new 2,200-seat grandstand to increase undercover capacity to 5,000. The improvements focus on shelter and seating that benefit community-level AFL participants who train and play at the venue regularly.

Henley Street Tennis Club Opening

The Henley Street Tennis Club officially opened following a $2.9 million upgrade to Lions Park at Earlville, featuring four new synthetic grass courts and lighting. This project delivers immediate playing surfaces for local tennis players and clubs operating at the Earlville site.
